Hazem Shawki most recently served as Head of the Investment Bank for the Middle East and North Africa at UBS AG from 2024 until the end of 2025.

Prior to UBS, Hazem was Head of the Private & Growth Markets Group in Investment Banking & Capital Markets at Credit Suisse with responsibility for Central & Eastern Europe, Turkey and Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa, as well as the Mid-Market segment in Western Europe.

Hazem joined Credit Suisse in 2019 from Goldman Sachs where he was Head of Investment Banking in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) since 2011. Prior to that, Hazem spent three years as Head of Private Equity at EFG-Hermes between 2008 and 2011. Before joining EFG-Hermes, Hazem was at Goldman Sachs from 1999 to 2008 in a variety of roles in the Telecom Media and Technology Group in London, Equity Capital Markets for the European New Markets area and covering the MENA region.

Hazem earned an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1999 and a BA First Class Joint Honors in Economics and Finance from McGill University in 1995.
