Alghanim Industries concludes facility management apprenticeship program

Alghanim Industries, one of the largest privately-owned companies in the Gulf, concluded a facilities-management apprentice training program in cooperation with the Youth Public Authority. The program equips young engineering graduates with the necessary tools needed to work and excel in the field of facility management.

The program solidifies Alghanim Industries’ commitment to Kuwait’s national development plan and Vision 2035, which aspires to transform the country into a leading financial and trade hub, amplifying the role of the private sector in leading the economy, creating competition, and promoting production efficiency. The Youth Public Authority coordinated the program in collaboration with 7 private sector organizations, including Alghanim Industries.

Extending over 4 months and certified by the Middle East Facilities Management Association – MEFMA – 22 engineers, from various fields including academic work and on-the-job apprenticeship, attended the program. Training focused on enhancing the participants’ skills in several managerial fields, from fixed asset and venue management to environmental and general safety procedures, all of which was supplemented with additional special topics.

Encouraged by Alghanim Industries’ training prowess, more than 70% of participants nominated Alghanim Industries as their employer of choice. Behind the company’s wealth of professional knowledge showcased in the training program, Alghanim Industries is further empowered by its adoption of state-of-the-art sustainable tech and innovative automation solutions across all its facilities. Whether in industrial plants and service centers or in automotive showrooms and retail stores, Alghanim Industries cemented its empowerment of young professionals by extending job offers to several program graduates.

Mirroring the directives of Executive Chairman Kutayba Y. Alghanim, the company’s investment in youth development is crucial to its future. Commenting on the company’s participation, the chairman said: “We’re thrilled and proud to support this initiative, which is as distinguished as it is needed. Bridging academic education with vocational training is an excellent professional combination that benefits both these young professionals and our communities. As a Kuwaiti company, investing in your youth is beyond a national duty. It is planting the seeds for our country’s future.”

The chairman also applauded the Youth Public Authority, saying “We hope to continue collaborating on more initiatives with the Youth Public Authority in the future. I would like to personally congratulate all the young engineers who completed this program. I am certain that this valuable apprenticeship will help them enhance their skills and launch their careers.”

Director General of the Youth Public Authority Dr. Mishaal Alrubaie also lauded the efforts of Alghanim Industries while expressing a shared commitment to further develop future Kuwaiti generations. The director added: “The Youth Public Authority is proud to play a pioneering role in supporting private sector companies with their efforts to localize human resources. The success of this program is a result of a successful partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve a joint goal – creating a promising generation of career-driven young Kuwaitis.”

Supporting youth initiatives is central to Alghanim Industries’ commitment to Kuwait’s economic well-being. During June, the company honored five young Kuwaiti female architects for winning the inaugural Kutayba Yusuf Alghanim Architecture Prize. Conceived by the chairman to spotlight young Kuwaiti professionals working at the intersection of the arts and engineering, competitors were asked to repurpose a defunct 44-meter-tall water tower built in the 1960’s and located in one of Alghanim’s facilities in Shuwaikh.

“We have so many promising, creative and intelligent young professionals,” Executive Chairman Alghanim said. “It is delightful to see such vigor and skill from the youth; our future is in good hands.”
