Alghanim Industries sponsors NUKS-USA orientation event
Kuwait, 20 July 2017: Alghanim Industries, one of the largest private companies in the region, sponsored the annual NUKS-USA's orientation event, which took place at the Kuwait International fairgrounds in Mishref on Monday 17 July, 2017. Over 1,350 students, who will fly to the United States this fall to begin their college studies, were in attendance. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al-Fares, Minister of Education and Higher Education of the State of Kuwait and attended by the Ambassador of the United States of America to the State of Kuwait, H.E. Lawrence Silverman, as well as representatives from Alghanim Industries.
This sponsorship is part of Alghanim Industries commitment in supporting the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS) USA branch for the academic year 2017/18.
Speaking to the attendees, H.E. Ambassador Lawrence Silverman said: "If I had one message, it is one my parents gave me when I went off to university, and one that I passed to my children as they began their higher education: Your success is exactly that – yours. You will succeed in the United States because you went to class, you studied hard, and you remained a student in good standing, all while enjoying everything that American college life has to offer. This year, almost 1,500 Kuwaiti students have chosen to study in the United States. Enabled by the generous support of the Kuwaiti government, more students choose to study in the United States than in any other country. Let me reiterate that the United States welcomes students from Kuwait and want to see more of you studying in the U.S."
Chief Human Resources Officer at Alghanim Industries, George Lambros, commented on the company's sponsorship, saying: "We are always pleased to participate in events that help support talented Kuwaiti students planning to pursue higher education abroad. Representing Alghanim Industries at events that cater to Kuwaiti youth is a great opportunity to tell them about our company and all the different opportunities we have to offer. We look forward to partnering with NUKS-USA in other future initiatives to support Kuwaiti students studying in the U.S., and to providing career opportunities for Kuwaiti graduates at Alghanim Industries."
Alghanim Industries also supported the event through its diverse businesses through a draw with gifts from X-cite by Alghanim Electronics and food and beverages from Costa Coffee, served throughout the event.
Alghanim Industries has sponsored many activities of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students (NUKS) – USA branch in recent years, including the annual conference held in the United States which is the largest gathering of Kuwaitis outside of Kuwait. This initiative comes as part of Alghanim Industries' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, which is committed to empowering the underprivileged, supporting education and encouraging entrepreneurship.
It is also worth noting that the company was a Strategic Sponsor for the fifth annual Tmkeen Youth Symposium, an initiative that provides youth with valuable insights about entrepreneurship from industry leaders, academics and experts, and was held under the patronage of the Emir, H.H. Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah. It is also the largest supporter for INJAZ-Kuwait, as it encourages its employees to volunteer regularly in INJAZ's different programs.
