Alghanim Industries launches 4th Annual Summer Internship Program
Kuwait, 14 August 2017: Alghanim Industries, one of the largest private companies in the region, launched its 4th Annual Summer Internship Program earlier this month as part of its ongoing mission to support education and the youth in Kuwait.
The Summer Internship Program is tailored to 1st and 2nd year university students, giving them an opportunity to explore different businesses and functions within Alghanim Industries. The program provides the students with the technical and professional skills needed to translate their academic knowledge into real-life projects. Over a hundred applications for the program were received, and 15 applicants were selected based on a strict criteria, which included GPA and a rigorous interview process.
The interns who have been accepted into the program come from diverse backgrounds, with a number of varying majors from both local and international universities. The program entails a structured rotational internship over the course of four weeks, where the groups are exposed to several businesses and corporate functions.
Commenting on the internship program, Chief Human Resources Officer at Alghanim Industries, George Lambros said: "We are very happy to have a group of hardworking and ambitious interns with us this summer. Our internship programs are designed to give students real world experiences, while introducing them to our diverse businesses and functions. Alghanim Industries is committed to providing development and career opportunities for local students, and our internship programs stand out because we implement many of their ideas and projects, which gives the students an opportunity to see their work have a real impact on our company."
Alghanim Industries also offers a Professional Internship Program, which caters to 3rd and 4th year university students. This program provides a more enriching experience to senior students by having a more focused curriculum where they are embedded in a single business or a department for the duration of their internship. This year, 24 students have been accepted and placed into the many different businesses and departments with the company.
It is worth noting that Alghanim Industries avidly supports education and empowering youth through different initiatives that it sponsors, such as the National Union of Kuwaiti Students in USA and in Australia, as well as its continuous support of INJAZ-Kuwait. In addition to being a platinum sponsor of "ArabNet Conference" and providing free event tickets to 100 university students in Kuwait.
