X-cite by Alghanim Electronics was recently awarded for the ‘Best Postpaid Sales’ at the VIVA Annual Dealers Recognition Convention held in Dubai. The convention is an effort to reinforce relations with VIVA's dealers and reward them for their continuous support and efforts.
X-cite was recognized for achieving the highest postpaid sales record of the year and was the only VIVA dealer in Kuwait to achieve such results after a one-year partnership. Salman AL-Badran, CEO – VIVA, presented the award to the X-cite Telecom Services team in the presence of VIVA's senior management and VIVA dealers and brand ambassadors at the event.

Last year, VIVA signed a strategic partnership with X-cite to offer VIVA products and services through X-cite showrooms. VIVA applauded X-cite for their continuous efforts to improve post paid sales in the market and congratulated them for this significant contribution.

Safat Home launched its new credit campaign at both its stores to provide its customers with great deal while purchasing on credit.

The ‘Credit Festival’ campaign allows customers to choose exciting gifts after making a credit purchase. On a spend of KD 150 and more, the customers are entitled to a KD 25 gift voucher from Safat Home. Other gifts include the LED TV’s, the new IPad, the IPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 and laptops.

Safat Home’s credit service is available in-store, can be availed by both Kuwaitis and ex-pats, and requires no down payment.

X-cite by Alghanim Electronics, in collaboration with RED Entertainment and Activision, held an action-packed launch event for the exclusive release of the much awaited PS3 game ‘Call of Duty – Black Ops 2’. Activision, the largest software publisher in the interactive entertainment software industry released the highly anticipated Call of Duty Black Ops II which is known to be the biggest game of the year by the gaming community.

Reaching out to all gaming enthusiasts in Kuwait, X-cite invited its customers to the exclusive launch of the game that took place at The Avenues on November 12, 2012, from 9.30 pm – 12 midnight.  The new Black Ops is the first Call of Duty game with ‘branching’ storylines – i.e. where the player can change how the game ends. X-cite created the ambience of the game with a unique in-store set up that included barricades, barrels, sand bags, as well as a jeep Wrangler which gave the actual feel of the game.
During the event, X-cite held random competitions such as a paint ball competition depicting actual characters from the game, which gave customers an exhilarating gaming experience. Adding to the excitement, a flashmob was done by Q8cosplayers who were present at the event, showcasing a variety of different costumes. A costume competition was held as well in which the best costume went to a character from the popular Japanese animation Naruto. Customers could also play the actual Call of Duty game and the first iteration of the PC Call of Duty game in the game zone to bring back memories from the first of its series. Promoters dressed up in army suits interacted and engaged with the crowd and helped to promote the game.

Due to the game’s widespread popularity, it even broke the record for the highest pre-orders. X-cite had launched a preorder campaign a month before the release, during which a customer was eligible to win a Jeep Wrangler, Turtlebeach headsets and loads of other exclusive prizes on ordering their game. 

Customers flocked in numbers to participate in the launch event and were very enthusiastic throughout all the competitions. A prize ceremony was held towards the end where the X-cite team handed out various prizes to the winners and giveaways to the participants. X-cite received an overwhelming response from hundreds of gaming enthusiasts and were thankful for their tremendous support to make launch of Call of Duty – Black Ops 2, a great success. Rockwool India recently participated in the 10th edition of ‘Green Building Congress’ conference and exhibition, held from 31 October – 1 November 2012, in Hyderabad, India. Rockwool India is one of the founding members of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), the organization responsible for organizing this amazing event. 

The IGBC’s activities have transformed the Indian market with regard to green building concepts, materials and technologies.  The event attracted over 2,000 delegates and over 5,000 visitors from India and other countries. This international event showcased the latest trends in green building by exhibiting various green technologies and materials.

Rockwool India exhibited a wide range of fire-safe insulation products and solutions for sustainable buildings. The visitors at the Rockwool stall included high-profile green building architects, consultants, builders and engineers. During the exhibition, the Rockwool team was able to introduce its new and innovative products including acoustic and thermal insulation Board (ATIB) for false-ceiling application and ALG facing building roll for metal building.

KIMMCO recently co-sponsored MEED’s Saudi Green Building Forum (SGBF) Conference, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from 13-16 October 2012.

The SGBF 2012 focused on the development of laws and regulations that promote green building initiatives in Saudi Arabia. In addition, the conference provided a crucial industry forum to debate best practice on design, construction and build environment. The event highlighted the key role that the wider community has to play in achieving an environmentally sustainable future. SGBF presented information on the analysis, insights and business opportunities across the Saudi Arabian green building projects, and built cultural awareness of green building and sustainability initiatives.

Robert Schild - Multi-Comfort Manager, Saint Gobain, representing KIMMCO at the event, gave a 45-minute presentation entitled, “Passive House: Ways to save energy in Building.” Robert spoke about improving energy efficiency in buildings by using mineral wool insulation, and explained that using insulation also leads to energy savings and reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. He also spoke about the impact of climate change, outlining specific solutions that the gathered decision-makers could act upon. The presentation was well-received by the audience. 

KIMMCO will continue to strengthen its position as the region’s premiere insulation solution provider by taking the lead in promoting green building initiatives, and participating in major construction exhibitions and events in key markets.

X-cite by Alghanim Electronics, in collaboration with Philips, have been conducting a series of mall promotions displaying the exciting new range of smart TV’s by Philips, in an aim to educate customers and create awareness about the latest Smart TV technology. This new range consists of various series of LCD, Smart LED and Smart 3D TV’s, ranging from size 32” right up to 55”.  With the advent of the Smart TV technology, users can not only enjoy cinematic entertainment but can also browse through the web with integrated Wi-Fi system. Users can download a host of apps, control the TV from their Smartphones, make voice and video calls over Skype, and lots more.

A special lounge was set up in the Safat Al-Rai showroom for this exciting event where VIP customers could preview the latest furniture arrivals at the store. In honor of the ‘Purple Carpet’ event, all invitees were entitled to a 20% discount on all products in the store.

Kirby Building Systems India has been awarded the prestigious Greentech Silver Award in Engineering Sector for outstanding achievement in Safety Management for 2012. This award has been received by the company for the second time in succession, after also being awarded with Greentech Environment Award and Greentech Safety Award in 2011. The Greentech Silver Safety Award was received by the Kirby India team in July 2012, during an event held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

The Greentech Foundation is reputed for its stringent safety standards, credibility and honoring the proactive practices of the awardees. The Greentech Safety Award recognizes the safety initiatives practiced by the industries.

KIMMCO recently participated in the Inter-Build Egypt Exhibition, held at the Cairo International Convention & Exhibition Centre from 21 – 25 June 2012. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Fathi El Baradei, Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Development. The exhibition included over 1,500 exhibitors from 46 countries, and witnessed an estimated 100,000 visitors over the course of the five day event.  In addition, several chambers of commerce, industry associations, and private companies took advantage of the event to organize seminars during the period.

KIMMCO held a technical seminar at the Holiday Inn, Cairo on 22 June, at which Manhal Jaweesh, Regional Sales Manager, MENA Exports, gave a talk entitled, “Green & sustainable benefits of glass fiber insulation.” Invitees to the seminar included consultants, contractors and other industry executives.

In a ceremony held on June 19, 2012 in Amman Jordan, X-cite by Alghanim Electronics was announced as the winner of the Facebook Interactive Award for the electronics category in the GCC region. The event was held by the Pan Arab Web Awards Academy where representatives from all the GCC and MENA region were nominated in various categories. Pan Arab Web Awards Academy is a non-profit organization that aims to inspire and reward creators for their skills so that they continue to improve. X-cite by Alghanim Electronics won the award for the Best In-Store Experience at the Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) awards held at Distree 2012 in UAE.  Award submissions were received from retailers across the Middle East.  Alghanim Industries recently marked the successful conclusion of its 2011-2012 Leadership Development Program, at a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. During the event, held at the company’s head office in Shuwaikh, thirty-four employees were recognized by the executive and senior management team for their successful completion of a rigorous, seven-month development program.

During the ceremony, teams of program graduates presented the results of their action learning projects, which are sponsored by senior business leaders within the Alghanim group of companies.  This year’s projects came from Gulf Trading and Refrigerating Company (GTRC), Kuwait Insulating Material Manufacturing Co., (KIMMCO) and the Xerox Division.  The projects involved defining a new competitive strategy for a mature business, conducting a feasibility study for an online business, and proposing a diversification strategy for a specific territory.  The action learning module was among the highest rated elements of the overall program by the participants.

Alghanim Industries’ multi-level Leadership Development Program provides the company’s emerging, mid-level and senior leaders with world-class leadership development.  Employees must be nominated into this program. The development curriculum offers a unique, integrated learning experience, based on international best practice that strengthens employees’ leadership capabilities and helps them realize their leadership potential. The program, developed and delivered by the Talent Development Company (an Alghanim Industries company), includes classroom-based workshops, action learning projects, business simulations, an international speaker series, e-learning, and one-to-one executive coaching.

With this award, World Finance recognizes Alghanim Industries for its excellence in the field of corporate governance and its efforts to go beyond the formal regulatory requirements for the benefit of its various stakeholders. This award specifically highlights the company’s high degree of fiscal integrity, thorough oversight, effective use of internal and external audit functions, and high levels of disclosure and transparency. Alghanim Industries was the only company in Kuwait to be selected in this year’s Corporate Governance awards.

Commenting on the honor, Alghanim Industries’ Chief Executive Officer, Omar K. KIMMCO participated in ‘World EcoConstruct’ held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center from 22-25 April 2012.  During the exhibition, KIMMCO featured a stand with its glasswool and rockwool products to educate and influence the audience about the benefits of using insulation.

The KIMMCO stand stood out with its new branding campaign and attracted many visitors, including contractors and consultants from across the region.  The UAE, specifically Abu Dhabi, is a main market for KIMMCO to enter due to its many construction projects and activities.

Alghanim Industries (AI) held its third annual blood donation campaign at its corporate headquarters in Shuwaikh, in cooperation with Kuwait’s Central Blood Bank (KCBB). The campaign was a huge success, with a large number of employees taking the time to donate blood to this worthy cause.  AI extends its thanks to the KCBB doctors and staff who facilitated the event.

First Saudi Insulation Manufacturing Company, a company owned by Alghanim Industries, is pleased to announce the construction of a new stone wool manufacturing facility based in Yanbu Al-Sinaiyah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

With the support of Saint-Gobain Isover (France), the world leader in insulation, FSIMC will manufacture a variety of stone wool products for thermal and acoustic insulation.  Using Saint-Gobain’s latest state-of-the-art technology (REX process), FSIMC will serve both the industrial and building segments. 

The manufacturing facility in Yanbu will have potential of 64,000 MT installed capacity and serve markets in Saudi Arabia, as well as other markets in the GCC, Egypt, Iraq and Levant.  The plant is expected to be commissioned in 2013.  The manufacturing facility in Yanbu will complement Alghanim Industries’ two stone wool facilities in India with a total installed capacity of 50,000 MT. Moreover, Alghanim Industries and Saint-Gobain also have a joint venture in Turkey to manufacture stone wool where installed capacity is expected to reach 75,000 MT in 2012. These facilities operate under Saint-Gobain Isover licensed technology.

The production of stone wool insulation at the Yanbu factory will also enable the construction sector to meet the increasing demand for eco-friendly and energy-efficient building materials. Stone wool insulation products can play a key role in the successful development of “green” building solutions with great energy savings for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and improved living comfort for the people.  This investment will also create valuable jobs for Saudi nationals.

We would like to acknowledge and thank the Strategic Planning & Investment Development team of the Royal Commission of Yanbu for the strong support provided both for the industrial land as well as for the associated utilities that are necessary to build and operate this green field manufacturing facility.

KIMMCO launched the new KIMMCO means insulation! corporate identity to customers and the general industry at the BIG5 Saudi exhibition, held in Jeddah from 10-13 March 2012. This year’s BIG5 Saudi exhibition saw a record number of participants, with over 500 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors from across the GCC.

KIMMCO used the occasion to showcase their re-branded corporate identity to the industry, a sleek new look to announce their transition from a mineral wool manufacturer to a provider of complete insulation solutions. It proved to be a huge success, and raised great interest amongst the visiting public. The KIMMCO skyline in particular, drew numerous visitors to KIMMCO’S booth.

The first days of X-cite by Alghanim Electronics and Safat Home’s highly-anticipated Hala February Carnival and National and Liberation Day celebration started last night amidst a large, excited crowd. This is the fourth consecutive year that the carnival is being held located outside of Safat Alghanim in Al-Rai. It will run for five days from February 20 – 24, 2012. 

The first day of the carnival attracted many families and children who spent their time enjoying the various entertaining activities and programs, contests as well as valuable prizes that were offered. The audience also enjoyed entertaining activities that included Disney characters, face painting and hair accessorizing. The day was also filled with musical performances such as the traditional music and dance, and acrobatic acts. The remaining four days of the carnival will be filled with more fun entertainment and valuable prizes and other activities for families.

In the spirit of the joyous month of February in Kuwait, proudly launched a Hala Feb photo contest on 14 February for its loyal customers and fans. The contest rules were very simple – customers were encouraged to take a picture of themselves with the website and the Kuwait flag.  They were also encouraged to include their friends and family in the photos, if they wished.
This contest was designed to create awareness of, increase fans’ engagement on its social media channels, and, of course, show the love that and consumers have for Kuwait.  The contest also encouraged individual creativity and established a fun activity for fans to enjoy. has received a great response to this contest from its fans and followers.  The photos that were submitted were posted on's Facebook page, so that customers could vote for the best pictures.
